UNO Gratitude Day

Thank a Maverick supporter during UNO Gratitude Day on April 3

Want to feel warm and fuzzy inside? Research has shown that expressing thanks makes you feel happier – and it makes the recipient of your message of thanks happier, too!

We hope you’ll help us spread the good feelings during the first-ever UNO Gratitude Day on April 3. This day is a partnership between the UNO Alumni Association, the University of Nebraska Foundation, and Durango’s Advancement and Support Hub (DASH). From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three locations across campus – Milo Bail Student Center, the Community Engagement Center, and Mammel Hall – you can join us to help write a thank you note or record a thank you video message. These messages will be sent to people who have donated to UNO to support student scholarships, emergency assistance, college programs, student organizations, wellness programs, and more!

April 3, 2025 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM

Milo Bail Student Center

6203 S University Dr Rd N, Omaha, NE 68132

Community Engagement Center

6400 S University Dr Rd N, Omaha, NE 68182

Mammel Hall

6708 Pine Street, Omaha, NE 68182

At each location, UNO students will learn about gratitude and how to craft a meaningful thank you message. Then, you’ll put these new skills to practice with a thank you card or video message. Write a poem, draw a picture, do an interpretive dance – whatever helps you express your thanks! Additionally, as our thanks to you, we’ll be giving away UNO swag items, cookies, refreshments, and more.

Durango’s Advancement and Support Hub (DASH) will also participate in UNO Gratitude Day, hosting a speaker to teach about gratitude and motivate our messages of thanks. You will also be able to learn about volunteer opportunities through this office, which can further help you pay forward your gratitude. Additionally, students can contribute to the Wall of Gratitude inside of DASH’s Milo Bail location by placing a gratitude sign on the window display.

You can participate in UNO Gratitude Day in the following ways:

  • Attend our Gratitude Talk, given by Morgan Holen, Director of Women Investing in Nebraska, in the Community Engagement Center (CEC) at 10 a.m.
  • Help fill up our Wall of Gratitude in DASH’s Milo Bail location.
  • Write a thank you note to a UNO supporter at one of our three locations across campus (MBSC, CEC, or Mammel Hall).
  • Record a thank you video we can share with UNO supporters via email and social media.
  • Share a message of gratitude on social media with the hashtag #UNOGratitudeDay.

Last year, more than 8,400 individuals made a monetary gift to UNO to help keep your costs down and make the college experience better for our students. Many of your classmates and colleagues will walk across the graduation stage one day because of this generosity from UNO’s donors – via scholarships, mentoring, support services, textbook and educational resources access, and more.

However you are feeling grateful for your experiences at UNO – let your voice be heard, and fill your heart with the happiness that comes from expressing gratitude during UNO Gratitude Day!
